Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Chinese Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek meet in Cairo to discuss military tactics against Japan and the future of postwar East Asia. The conference, hosted at the American embassy in Cairo, concluded that Japan would be stripped of its conquered territory, China would regain sovereignty over several Pacific islands, and Korea would gain independence following the war.
