Harrison Township Historical Society

Harrison Township Historical Society

Since its foundation, the society has established a national reputation for award-winning exhibitions and quality programs for school children, families and adults, centering on the rich cultural heritage of Harrison Township and southern New Jersey.

Over a century ago a group of public-spirited citizens saw the need for a public hall in Mullica Hill where community events and town meetings could take place. That recognition of need became a reality in 1871 with the completion of Old Town Hall. Today, the Harrison Historical Society continues this spirit by restoring and maintaing this historic building.

The Harrison Township Historical Society headquarters is in the Old Town Hall. The building is listed as a key contributing structure in Mullica Hill’s Historic District, and is listed in the New Jersey State and National Registers of Historic Places, and is recorded by the Historic American Buildings Survey, US Department of the Interior.

The Society is supported by grants and member support as well as fundraising events like the Ground Hog Dinner, Spring Tea, and Halloween Ghost Walk.
