Canadian-American economist and diplomat John Kenneth Galbraith is born in Iona Station, Ontario. A proponent of Keynesian economics, Galbraith served in the Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson administrations, taught at Harvard University for many years, and published a noteworthy trilogy on economic theory: American Capitalism, The Affluent Society, and The New Industrial State.
