Located along the Battle Road between Lexington and Concord, "Bloody Angel" was the site of one of the most intense ambushes during the British retreat on April 19, 1775. Colonial militia, using the curve in the road and wooded terrain to their advantage, launched coordinated attacks on the column of British regulars. The sharp turn allowed the colonists to fire from both sides, resulting in some of the heaviest British casualties of the day.
