  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo signed

    American diplomat Nicholas Trist signs the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in Mexico City, formally ending the Mexican-American War. By signing the treaty, Mexico recognized the Rio Grande as its northern border and ceded about 55% of its pre-war territory to the United States.
