Munroe Tavern served as the British headquarters and field hospital. Here, Gen. Percy with his reinforcements from Boston met the beleaguered Royal troops returning from Lexington, set up a defensive line to the east and west of the tavern, and tended to the wounded, before setting out on the long and dangerous journey back to Boston.
